Back to School Night and more

Thank you to all who came to the Back to School Night this past week. Lots of information was distributed by our principal, Mrs. Smith, as well as in the classes by the individual teachers. To the "newbies" let me assure you that you will love Reidenbaugh!! We have a truly amazing group of teachers.

This newsletter will remind you of some of the things we talked about last Wednesday. I also bring you new detail on our website: www.ReidPTO.com. Check it out!! We organized all PTO information on this site for you to visit when you misplace your newsletter, you want to check the date of an function, or understand a certain event. Comments and suggestions are always welcome. While there, don't forget to register for the 2017-2018 Reidenbaugh Student Directory.

Before we start, let's pause for a minute and think of those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. Let's imagine a world full of peace.

RACE FOR EDUCATION: This event will take place next month but it actually starts NOW! Last week your child took home the Race For Education flyers explaining how it all works. On Thursday, October 12, 2017, Reidenbaugh Elementary School PTO will be walking or jogging around the track as many times as possible in forty-five minutes. Each student will raise funds by asking sponsors to contribute a tax deductible donation to our PTO. The proceeds will be used to directly benefit your child's educational experience at Reidenbaugh for the next two (2) school years! Think of relative, friends, neighbors, business associates, coaches and anyone else you know who would want to invest in your child's education. Then email them a message such as this:

"[Your student's name] will be walking/jogging during a special fundraising event at Reidenbaugh Elementary School on Thursday, October 12, 2017. Would you be willing to sponsor [him/her]? Please go to www.race4ed.com/res to find out more. Search for [your student's name] to make a donation. Thanks very much!"

PICTURE DAY: This Thursday, September 14, is Picture Day. You should have received a Lifetouch order form envelope during the first week of school. You can also place your order before Picture Day online at mylifetouch.com. If you didn't order online by then, you can use the order form envelope and send it with your child.

REIDENBAUGH CLUBS: Do you have a passion? Or maybe you have acquired one recently? Or you are good at something, like jumping rope or dance? Or you have that book on Origami that you have never really used... Now is your chance to pass on a little of what you know or love or have, to our children. It's one morning a week for 45 minutes only. If you are interested in facilitation a club this fall, please email Leslee Forman at lesleeforman@gmail.com by Friday, September 15, 2017. The kids thank you!!!

STUDENT DIRECTORY: Reidenbaugh Student Directory Registration is open! We put this together for you every year and it's very useful to invite kids to a birthday party or playdate, to reach out to another parent about homework or a school event or just to know you are connected in case you need something. Remember, only the families who sign up for the Reidenbaugh 2017-2018 Student Directory will receive a copy of the directory. To register in the student directory just go to our website ReidPTO.com. To make it easier, just click here for the link.

WISH LIST: We are in need of 2.5 gallon ziplock bags for our library books. Actually, it's for our kids to use for their library books so we need at least one per child. Please send in your donations to the PTO. Thank you in advance!

VOLUNTEERS: We have many opportunities for you to get involved in our school and events. Please go to our website to find out how to get your clearances and where we are in need of volunteers. Here are a few easy ones: Bingo Night is Friday, Sept. 22. Please contact Heatherann Paul (717) 725-7508 or Susan Matson (484) 832-5176 if you can help out for 30 minutes. If you like to take pictures, contact Chris Drew at christiedrew@gmail.com, (717) 406-8400 to help with the yearbook.

REDEFINING CAREER SUCCESS: It is never too early to begin thinking about your child's future. Do you want to be "in the know" about how to guide your child to a good paying career? Then you should consider attending one of the informational sessions regarding the future job market in Lancaster County sponsored by Career Link, the Workforce Development Board, and the Lancaster STEM Alliance. See the Redefining Career Success flyer.

An educational trip request form must be received in the office 1 (one) week prior to the absence or it will not be approved. All school work missed during the trip will be provided after the absence.

Closed toed shoes are really helpful for playground and recess time. It's also important that sneakers are won on Gym days.
